Tyre Pressure and Speed Conversions
Vehicle manuals, tyre pumps and travel guides do not always use the same units. A car placard might list tyre pressure in bar, a garage pump might show psi, and a handbook may include kPa. Road speeds also vary between mph and km/h depending on the country. Converting these values correctly helps you compare instructions without guessing.
Pressure: Bar, kPa and PSI
One bar is 100 kPa and about 14.5038 psi. A common tyre pressure such as 2.4 bar is therefore 240 kPa or about 34.8 psi. If a bicycle tyre says 85 psi, that is about 5.86 bar. Use the pressure converter to move between pascals, kilopascals, bar, psi and atmospheres. Always follow the pressure range printed on the tyre or vehicle placard, and check whether the value is for cold tyres.
Speed: MPH and KM/H
One mile per hour is exactly 1.609344 kilometres per hour. That makes 30 mph about 48.28 km/h, 60 mph about 96.56 km/h and 70 mph about 112.65 km/h. In the other direction, 50 km/h is about 31.07 mph and 100 km/h is about 62.14 mph. The speed converter also supports metres per second and knots for sports, marine and aviation contexts.
Why Exact Labels Matter
Pressure and speed units look simple, but the wrong assumption can produce a large difference. PSI is not the same as kPa, knots are not the same as mph, and bar values are usually small numbers that can be misread if the decimal point is missed. Convert the printed value first, then round only after you know the target unit.
